NCDC to come up at Guwahati in Assam: Keshab Mahanta

Guwahati: The Assam Government will construct a National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) wing in Rani on the outskirts of Guwahati, health minister Keshab Mahanta said on Friday.

Mahanta was present to choose the project’s land. The minister pointed off the property next to the community health centre in West Guwahati’s Rani area.

The health minister gave instructions to staff to speed up the paperwork during his visit so that the project could start right away.

It may be noted that the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) chose Assam and four other states to establish NCDC centres under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

Apart from Guwahati, the other places selected are Dehradun, Bhopal, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru.

It should be mentioned that NCDC centres concentrate on the study, treatment, and management of infectious diseases include Covid-19, malaria, and Japanese encephalitis.
