NCERT Team Set to Review ‘Vidya Pravesh’ Implementation in Tripura Schools from November 5-7
Agartala — The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will be visiting Tripura from November 5 to 7 to evaluate the implementation of the Vidya Pravesh school preparation module for newly admitted class 1 students.
This initiative aims to standardize the learning levels of children entering the education system from diverse backgrounds.
The NCERT team will conduct reviews in several districts, including Gomati, West Tripura, Sepahijala, and Khowai, focusing on the progress made by students who have participated in the Vidya Pravesh program. Abhijit Samajpati, Officer on Special Duty of the School Education Department, highlighted the necessity of bringing students from various educational backgrounds—such as pre-primary schools, Anganwadi centres, or home schooling—onto a common platform before they engage with the formal curriculum.
The Vidya Pravesh project aims to ensure that first-grade students can recognize all letters, read simple words, and identify numbers up to 10. In response to these educational needs, Tripura has implemented a nine-week bridge course based on the Vidya Pravesh module from the first day of class.
This upcoming review follows an initial evaluation conducted by the NCERT in June 2024, where officials assessed student performance and gathered feedback from teachers and parents regarding the project’s impact. The team expressed satisfaction with the use of teaching-learning materials in schools and noted improvements in student learning attributed to the Vidya Pravesh module.
The second phase of the NCERT’s review will provide a comprehensive assessment of the program’s effectiveness and the overall development of students in Tripura’s educational landscape.
