NCP’s Ajit Pawar appointed as Leader Of Opposition In Maha Assembly

Guwahati: The NCP politician and former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar has been appointed the opposition leader in the state assembly.

He succeeds Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP who took office as deputy chief minister on June 30.

New elected Speaker Rahul Narwekar announced that Pawar will take over as Leader of Opposition in the Assembly

He added that, out of the 288 members of the House, the NCP is now the main opposition party.

Ajit Pawar was characterised as an experienced politician and leader by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
