NDPP Leader Neiphiu Rio Tenders His Resignation as Nagaland CM

Guwahati: Leader of the nationalist Democratic Progressive Party Neiphiu Rio submitted his letter of resignation from his position as Nagaland’s chief minister to the governor La Ganesan clearing the way for the new administration’s establishment on March 4.

Rio submitted his resignation following a resounding success in the recently held Assembly elections, in which the BJP-NDPP combination was able to secure 37 seats, crossing the threshold for a majority.

Seyievilie Sachu of Congress was defeated by Rio to win the Northern Angami-II constituency.

The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party Legislature Party (NDPPLP) of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly unanimously chose Neiphiu Rio as its leader and gave him the go-ahead to create the new administration at its inaugural gathering at the party’s headquarters in Kohima.

The NDPPLP also expressed its gratitude to the Naga people for their continued support of the NDPP and chief minister Rio’s administration by electing their respective MPs to the 14th Nagaland Legislature.

Moreover, the leader of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP)  TR Zeiliang stated that the new administration will probably take office on March 7.

The senior leader added that before the swearing-in event, a few NDPP party leaders including CM Rio will be invited to Delhi for a combined meeting with the BJP high command.
