NEEPCO Employee Loses 4 Fingers in Accident in Assam’s Dima Hasao

Guwahati: A 36-year-old employee of the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) lost four fingers on his left hand in an accident on duty in Dima Hasao district of Assam on Friday.

The incident took place in the Umrangso town of the district.

The employee identified as Thoi Khelma.

According to reports, he works for the hydro project’s electrical department.

Reportedly, while he was on duty, a crane engaged in project work sliced off four fingers on Khelma’s left hand, except the thumb.

He was taken to the Umrangso Community Health Centre, where he was treated at first. He was eventually referred to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for more advanced care.

According to doctors at Umrangso health centre, Khelma’s life was not in danger but he would have difficulties doing his everyday tasks because he had lost fingers.
