Neeraj Chopra clinched gold medal in Lausanne Diamond League 2023
Sports desk, 1 July: India’s champion and 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medalist, Neeraj Chopra clinched gold medal in the Lausanne Diamond League 2023 with the best throw of 87.66 m on Friday.
On June 30, the top athlete demonstrated his extraordinary abilities with a stunning throw of 87.66 metres, securing his place among the best javelin throwers in the world.
After missing numerous events due to injuries, Neeraj’s victory in Lausanne marked his return after his victory at the Diamond League 2023 competition in Doha back in May. His outstanding performance in Switzerland revealed his tenacity and unflinching resolve.
Neeraj did not finish among the top three athletes after the first round of the competition. But with a throw of 83.52 metres in the second round, he asserted himself. Despite this, Julian continued to be in the lead at the conclusion of the second round, allowing Neeraj to climb up the ranks.
In the third round, Neeraj showed continued development by covering an astounding 85.02 metres and moving up to second place. At the conclusion of the fourth round, Neeraj still held the second-place position despite having his fourth attempt ruled illegal.
Neeraj’s fifth attempt was when he fired an incredible throw of 87.66 metres, which proved to be the turning point. He beat out everyone else for first place thanks to this outstanding performance.
Neeraj further cemented his commanding lead in the competition with a throw of 84.15 metres on his sixth and final try. He ultimately won the deserved gold medal because to his consistently excellent performance throughout the competition.
While Neeraj emerged as the champion, Julian settled for second place with a best throw of 87.03 meters. The Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlech secured the third position with a remarkable throw of 86.13 meters.
