NEET-UG 2025 Set for May 4 Amid Tightened Security and Mock Drills Across 5,453 Centres

National: As India braces for the NEET-UG 2025 examination on May 4, authorities have rolled out an unprecedented three-tier security framework to ensure the entrance test is conducted with maximum integrity and transparency.

With over 22.7 lakh candidates registered, the exam remains one of the most high-stakes competitive assessments in the country, spanning 5,453 centres across more than 500 cities.

To bolster the sanctity of the process, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has, for the first time, mandated a full-scale mock drill on May 3 at every centre.

The trial run aims to evaluate the operational readiness of critical components such as biometric verification, mobile jammers, and frisking systems—measures designed to counter the spectre of malpractice that haunted last year’s NEET-UG 2024, including allegations of paper leaks and impersonation.

This year, most examination centres have been allocated in government and government-aided educational institutions, allowing stricter surveillance and better logistical control. Sources close to the NTA told ANI that the new arrangement ensures tighter coordination and supervision at all levels—district, state, and national.

Candidates have been issued stern warnings against engaging in any form of cheating or misconduct. Under the newly enacted Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, those found guilty face up to three years of debarment from NTA-conducted exams and possible criminal prosecution.

With layered security and technological reinforcements in place, the NTA appears determined to rebuild public trust and deliver a smooth and credible NEET-UG 2025 examination experience.
