NEHU Launches Entrepreneurship Development Centre to Foster Innovation and Growth
Northeast Desk, 14th June: In a significant step to nurture entrepreneurial talent and drive innovation, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) inaugurated its Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) on June 13. Sponsored by the North Eastern Council and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, the EDC aims to serve students, faculty, and the broader East Khasi Hills community.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of NEHU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, who officially launched the EDC alongside officials from NEHU and IIE Guwahati. Pranab Kumar Sarma and Himanshu Barman from IIE Guwahati participated virtually.
Dr. Dinesh Bhatia, Project Leader of the EDC, outlined the centre’s vision to enhance entrepreneurial skills through mentorship programs, workshops, awareness camps, and access to incubation and funding opportunities.
Prof. Shukla emphasized the crucial role of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and societal progress. He described the EDC as a catalyst for nurturing innovative ideas and providing essential support to aspiring entrepreneurs within NEHU and the local community.
Guest of Honour Prof. Hasan Askari from the Chemistry Department highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship in academia and regional development, praising NEHU’s initiative. Prof. Sirsendu Sekhar Ray, EDC Coordinator, expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, sponsors, and attendees, underscoring NEHU’s commitment to empowering students through collaborative opportunities.
The EDC at NEHU is set to become a pivotal platform for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, contributing significantly to the region’s economic and social development.
