New Era of Connectivity Dawns as Karbi Anglong Unveils A.C. Bus Service to Guwahati
DIPHU: In a significant step towards bolstering regional connectivity and passenger comfort, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) is all set to flag off a new air-conditioned (A.C.) bus service from Diphu to Guwahati. The much-anticipated service, slated to begin operations on August 6, 2025, will be formally inaugurated at a ceremony at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT), 5th Mile, Chutianala, Diphu, at 12:00 PM. This initiative, a long-felt need of the region, aims to provide a safe, comfortable, and reliable travel option for the people of Karbi Anglong, especially students, patients, office-goers, and frequent commuters to the state capital.
The launch is expected to be a major fillip for the local populace, as it seeks to address longstanding travel hardships. The modern A.C. bus service is seen as a key enabler for enhanced access to critical services like healthcare and education, while also opening up new avenues for employment and stimulating local economic activity. The event will be a high-profile affair, with Chief Executive Member (CEM) of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. He will be joined by Bili Mohon Khaglary, Executive Member in charge of the Transport Department, KAAC. Adding to the list of dignitaries, Amarsing Tisso, Member of Parliament for the Diphu (ST) constituency, will attend as the Guest of Honour.
The inauguration ceremony will also witness the presence of other distinguished guests, including MLAs Darsing Ronghang (Howraghat) and Bidya Sing Engleng (Diphu), along with KAAC Chairman Raju Tisso, Deputy Chairman Avijit Kro, a host of Executive Members, and senior officials from the transport and district administration. In a parallel move aimed at enhancing the overall travel experience, the event will also mark the opening of new stalls and a canteen facility at the ISBT. This move is part of a broader plan to upgrade passenger services and ensure a more convenient journey for all commuters. The launch of the A.C. bus service underscores KAAC’s unwavering commitment to citizen-centric governance and inclusive regional development.
