New R&D Center Inaugurated in Tawang: Arunachal Pradesh CM Hails Defense Boost
Northeast Desk, 25th May: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has lauded the inauguration of a new Research and Development (R&D) center in Tawang, emphasizing its crucial role in fortifying defense capabilities in the region. Speaking via a microblogging site on May 25, Chief Minister Khandu expressed his satisfaction with the latest addition to Tawang’s infrastructure.
The inauguration of the R&D Centre by the Defence Research Laboratory (DRL) is poised to significantly bolster support for soldiers deployed in frontline areas and foster research endeavors. Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Chairman of DRDO, presided over the inauguration ceremony held on May 24, underscoring a concerted effort to strengthen defense capabilities in remote regions.
Dr. Kamat was joined by Dr. U. K. Singh, Director General (Life Sciences) and Director of DRL Tezpur, alongside other dignitaries, during the inaugural event.
Chief Minister Khandu underscored the strategic importance of the new R&D center, particularly in Tawang, a region sharing borders with China. The facility is poised to tackle the unique challenges encountered by soldiers stationed in high-altitude terrains, thereby augmenting defense infrastructure in the region.
