NHRC registers case in minor boy assault case of Morigaon

Guwahati: A case has been registered in the physical assault of a minor by a police official of the Lahori Khan police station in Assam’s Morigaon district by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

The case no. 110/3/23/2022 was registered after the video of him physically assaulting the child went viral.

Earlier the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) named Upendra Chandra Bordoloi was suspended on Monday after a video of him brutally abusing 14-year-old in the police station’s premises surfaced on social media.

In the viral video the police officer can be seen repeatedly beating a minor kid with a stick, despite the boy screaming and urging him to stop.

According to reports, the minor was found stealing biscuits from the police official’s vehicle which was kept in the police station premises.
