NHRC to Address Pending Human Rights Violation Cases in North-Eastern States on November 17

National Desk, 15th November: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) India is set to address more than 40 pending cases of human rights violations in the North-Eastern States during a camp sitting on November 17 at the Administrative Staff College in Guwahati.

The commission aims to sensitize local self-governments on various human rights aspects, holding a national conference on ‘Advancing Human Rights through Local Self Governments’ on November 16.

Justice Arun Mishra, NHRC Chairperson, along with other members and senior officers, will attend the conference. The gathering will include Chairpersons of the State Human Rights Commissions of Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Sikkim, as well as representatives from civil society, NGOs, and the press.

The NHRC officials will also meet with Chief Secretaries, DGPs, and senior officers of the eight North-Eastern states to review the implementation of advisories and recommendations, aiming to protect and promote human rights in the respective states. A meeting with all State Human Rights Commissions (SHRCs) of the North-Eastern states is also scheduled during the camp sitting to enhance coordination and synergy in activities related to human rights protection and awareness generation.
