NIA and Assam Police STF Arrest Jaish-e-Mohammed Suspect in Joint Operation

Assam: In a significant breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police apprehended Shahanur Alam, a suspected operative of the banned terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). The arrest was made during a meticulously coordinated raid in Tukura, located in Assam’s Goalpara district.

The operation unfolded across multiple locations, including Govindpur, Tukura, and Borpahar, as part of an intensified effort to dismantle terror networks in the region. Alam’s arrest is linked to a larger investigation focused on the radicalization of individuals associated with JeM, the dissemination of extremist propaganda, and recruitment into terror-related activities.

This initiative is part of a nationwide crackdown by the NIA, which conducted synchronized searches across five states, including Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat. The raids are aimed at uncovering critical evidence and disrupting the logistical infrastructure that supports terrorist organizations.

In Assam, the targeted locations underline the state’s increasing prominence in counter-terror operations. While further details on the findings or potential additional arrests remain undisclosed, the authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to addressing the threats posed by radicalized groups both within the state and across the country.
