NIA Team to Investigate Assam Grenade Blasts; ULFA-I Claims Responsibility

Guwahati, 16th December: An NIA team is scheduled to arrive in Assam on December 16 to investigate a series of grenade blasts that have occurred across three districts. State authorities sought the assistance of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) following multiple attacks claimed by the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I).

ULFA-I has claimed responsibility for the grenade blasts in Tinsukia, Sivasagar, and Jorhat districts, spanning from November 22 to December 13. Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, held a meeting with NIA Director General Dinkar Gupta in New Delhi on December 15 to discuss the investigation.

Assuring justice, Assam’s Director General of Police, GP Singh, affirmed that those responsible for the blasts would be held accountable. The NIA’s involvement underscores the seriousness of the situation and the collaborative efforts to address and resolve the security concerns in the state.
