Guwahati: The renowned artist Nil Pawan Baruah will be laid to rest with the due state honours on Saturday in Guwahati’s Nabagraha Cemetery.
The body of Baruah will be taken from the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) to his residence in Beltola.
Renowned artist Nil Pawan Baruah passed away at around 3:15 pm on Friday.
The well-known artist passed away today after receiving treatment at the GMCH for a long time.
Nil Pawan Baruah was born in Teok of Jorhat Assam on June 1st, 1936. He enrolled in the famous Shantiniketan in 1961.
He started teaching at Guwahati Art College in 1966. The renowned painter later founded the Charu – Karu Kala Parishad in Charaideo, Assam.
The Assam state government presented the renowned artist with the “Assam Sourav” award in 2021.
