NIT Manipur to Host 11th Convocation with Key Achievements Amid Challenges
Imphal: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur is set to host its 11th convocation on December 27 at the institute’s administrative building. A total of 244 students will be conferred degrees, including 23 PhDs, 28 MTechs, 28 MScs, and 155 BTechs.
During a press conference, NIT Manipur’s director, DVLN Somayajulu, announced that five gold medals would be awarded to the top performers in each BTech program. The Chairman’s Gold Medal will be presented to Koukuntla Komal Reddy from the BTech Computer Science and Engineering program, while other gold medalists include Mutum Rajesh Meitei, Challa Dhanush Sri Karthik Reddy, Ural Oinam, and Meenika Thoudam.
Despite challenges faced by the state since May 2023, NIT Manipur has made notable progress. The institute ranks 129th among the top engineering institutions in India, as per the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings 2024. Additionally, the institute has recently published around 294 scientific papers and secured Rs 7.66 crores in funding for major research projects during 2023-2024.
NIT Manipur graduates have secured placements in reputed companies such as HP, Power Grid Corporation, and L&T Construction. The institute continues to make strides in interdisciplinary research fields like machine learning, robotics, artificial intelligence, and environmental sciences.
The Department of Civil Engineering has also forged an academic collaboration with Delta Water Institute, Nanjing, China, and the Key Laboratory of Hydrometeorological Mechanism and Warning, Ministry of Water Resources, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, China.
