NIT Silchar: Protests Escalate by ABVP Members Gather to Condemn Academic Dean
Guwahati, 17th September: The protest over the tragic death of a student at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar continues to intensify as members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) assembled on Club Road to express their anger on Sunday. Their demonstration involved the symbolic burning of an effigy representing the Academic Dean, BK Roy.
Reports indicate that the ABVP members voiced their dissent by chanting slogans against Academic Dean BK Roy and the authorities of NIT Silchar at Club Road. Their intention was to set the effigy of BK Roy on fire as a form of protest. However, law enforcement stepped in to prevent the effigy from being burned, leading to a confrontation between the police and ABVP members.
Despite the tensions, the police managed to confiscate the effigy from the protestors, further escalating the situation. The protest, sparked by the student’s untimely demise, appears to be gaining momentum as various groups and individuals seek answers and accountability surrounding the incident at NIT Silchar.
