Nitin Gadkari Inaugurates 3 NH Projects Worth Over Rs 1,200 Crore In Siliguri

Guwahtai: The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari officially opened and lay the cornerstones for three highways in Siliguri on Thursday in the presence of Raju Bisht and Jayant Kumar Roy the two members of Parliament as well as numerous other federal and state authorities.

The projects that were officially opened include a two-lane road over bridge (ROB) that replaces a level crossing at 615.5 kilometres on NH-31 (Oodlabari). An official release claims that this project will significantly improve global connectivity and ROB in place of a level crossing at 661.100 kilometres on NH-31 (Maynaguri). Due to enhanced safety features, accidents would be reduced and travel time and distance would be reduced.

The development to 4/6-lanning of NH-31 with service roads on both sides from the end of AH-02 on NH-31 near Shivmandir to Sevoke Army Cantonment in the districts of West Bengal was officially kicked off on Thursday, which will significantly help Siliguri’s traffic situation. It would improve connectivity with neighbouring nations including Bangladesh, Nepal and Northeastern India.

The development of these projects, according to the statement, will result in industrial and economic growth in West Bengal and in eastern India with significant gains in the agricultural and sector.
