Niuland To Come Under ILP From Oct 1 in Nagaland
Guwahati: The district of Niuland in Nagaland will be governed under the Inner Line Permit (ILP) beginning on October 1, 2022.
This was notified by the State Home Department, Political Branch that every non-indigenous person visiting the Niuland district will need to receive an ILP in the same way that it is necessary when entering the ILP area of the state.
According to the notification, all non-indigenous person who have settled or entered Niuland which was previously not covered under ILP, before the day of this notification and on or after November 21, 1979, when the area of Niuland was constituted as Tribal belt vide Land Revenue Department Notification No.LR/2-118/76 dated 21/11/1979, shall be required to obtain ILP in the same mode and manner and under the same condition as mentioned above within 90 days from the date of issue of this notification on September 21, 2022.
Direct descendants of non-indigenous people who migrated or established in a district that had not previously been covered by an ILP before November 21, 1979 will also be excluded from the requirement that they have an ILP.
They must provide proof of this to DC, Niuland in the form of documentation such as name entries on the E-roll, land and property documents, house tax, name entries on the E-Roll of town committee, school records, trade licences, etc.
On the strength of the certificate issued by the DC Niuland, the concerned person will not be required to obtain the ILP. The DC will certify that the person in question has been living continuously since before November 21, 1979, based on the submitted documents and after conducting any inquiries that he deems appropriate and necessary.
Moreover, it is not necessary for any non-indigenous person to receive ILP if they are travelling via Niuland to another state as a transit passenger and have a valid ticket.
