NLUJA Guwahati Student Found Dead in Hostel Room, Investigation Underway
Guwahati: A third-year student of the National Law University and Judicial Academy (NLUJA), Assam, was found dead in his hostel room on the morning of June 18, sending shockwaves through the campus community.
The 21-year-old student, a native of Hyderabad, was discovered hanging by a friend at around 10:14 AM, after repeated attempts to reach him went unanswered. Fellow students forced open the door and found him unresponsive. No suicide note was recovered from the scene.
According to sources, the student had been undergoing counselling and was on prescribed medication at the time of his death. However, the exact circumstances remain unclear, and no conclusions have yet been drawn.
The university administration is said to be fully cooperating with the investigation and is working to support affected students and the deceased’s family. The student’s parents arrived in Guwahati later in the afternoon after being informed of the tragedy.
Local police have launched an investigation and are interviewing friends, classmates, and staff to gather more information. Authorities have stated that they are exploring all possible angles, with no initial signs pointing definitively to the cause of the incident.
