No chance for lockdown in Assam, says Health Minister

Guwahati: Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said that there is no chance for a lockdown in Assam.

Following the dramatic rise in COVID-19 cases, as well as deaths linked to COVID-19, there has been debate over whether the state government may enforce a lockdown.

The Health Minister, dismissing any such assumptions, underlined that the government will apply limits if necessary, but not a lockdown.

Concerning the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Assam, the health minister advised not to worry but to take precautions.

“As expected, we’re getting ready. By the end of January and the first week of February, we will witness a peak in COVID-19 cases,” claimed the Health Minister.

“The deaths associated with COVID-19 are not caused by COVID-19.” The majority of the deceased patients had various co-morbidities, which may have contributed to their succumbing to COVID-19 after being admitted to the hospital. The virus was obtained by several people while they were being treated for other illnesses, said the Health Minister.

COVID-19 has afflicted the most persons in the age groups of 21-30 years (19.72 percent), 51-60 years (16.70 percent), and 31-40 years (16.70 percent), according to data from GMCH (14.03 percent ).
