No Indian Nationals on TIME 100 List for 2025, Reshma Kewalramani Only Indian-Origin Name
Entertainment: In a surprising shift, TIME Magazine’s 2025 list of the 100 most influential people features no Indian nationals — a departure from previous years when India’s presence was notable. While the 2024 edition included celebrated names like Alia Bhatt and Olympic wrestler Sakshi Malik, this year’s list excludes Indian citizens entirely.
The only Indian-origin individual to feature is Reshma Kewalramani, the US-based CEO of Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Having moved from India to the U.S. at age 11, Kewalramani is recognized for breaking barriers as the first woman to lead a major American biotech firm.
Among the global powerhouses named in this year’s list are:
• Donald Trump (U.S. President)
• Keir Starmer (U.K. Prime Minister)
• Muhammad Yunus (Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor and Nobel laureate)
• Claudia Sheinbaum (President of Mexico)
• JD Vance (U.S. Vice President)
• Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus (WHO Director-General)
• Javier Milei (President of Argentina)
• Ahmed al-Sharaa (Syrian activist from the 2023 uprising)
This year’s list spans politics, science, business, and entertainment, with five global cover stars: Demi Moore, Snoop Dogg, Serena Williams, Ed Sheeran, and Demis Hassabis (CEO of DeepMind).
The TIME 100 remains divided into categories like Leaders, Icons, and Titans, celebrating those who significantly shaped the world over the past year. However, India’s absence from the 2025 list has sparked discussions around shifting global influence and representation.
