“Non-vaccinated Assam Govt Employees to face Action”

Guwahati: Health Minister Keshav Mahanta on Saturday said that government officials must mandatorily take the COVID-19 vaccine before coming to office and if any employee does not take the vaccine within the given time, they will be penalized and actions will be taken against them.

Mahanta added that actions will also be taken against employees who make excuses about them not being able to find vaccines. Their salaries will be deducted as actions against them.

He added that even employees of private organizations will have to be vaccinated and Deputy Commissioners of each district will be entrusted to maintain a vigil. They will check if everyone in such organizations is vaccinated and if anyone is found faking about the vaccination, then actions under the law will be taken against them.

He further added that even shops will have to maintain this protocol. The owners and employees of the shops will have to be vaccinated and if they are not, then they will not be allowed to open the shops.

The Deputy Commissioners will start checking organizations regarding the vaccines from Monday.

“But if the team that goes to investigate that they are lying gets a gom then appropriate action will be taken. There are enough vaccines in Assam. Today 8 lakh vaccines have arrived and there are 25 lakh more in deposits”, Mahanta added.
