North Sikkim Blanketed in Snow as Severe Cold Wave Hits the Region

Northeast Desk, 13th December: Significant snowfall has been reported in parts of North Sikkim, including Lachung and its upper reaches, triggering a severe cold wave across the state and adjacent regions. Ravangla also experienced hailstones during this weather phenomenon.

This snowfall follows Sikkim’s initial snowfall of the season on October 18, covering Tsomgo, Dzuluk, and surrounding areas.

The cold wave has led to a drop in temperatures in Gangtok and nearby areas, coinciding with authorities issuing permits for tourists to visit these areas after a flash flood earlier in the year.
