Northeast: I-T Department Conducts Raids in Guwahati and Meghalaya
Northeast Desk, 10th January: The Income Tax Department in Guwahati has initiated another round of raids in various parts of the city, focusing on potential instances of tax evasion. The simultaneous raids are reportedly being conducted at approximately 40 locations in Guwahati, with additional operations taking place in several industries in Meghalaya.
In conjunction with these actions, the IT department has also targeted three cement factories in the Assam-Meghalaya region, along with conducting searches at the residence of a cement factory owner. The raids are part of ongoing efforts by the Income Tax Department to address possible tax irregularities and ensure compliance.
This follows similar operations in December 2023 when the Income Tax Department conducted raids at three locations in Guwahati, including the residences and business establishments of individuals associated with the oil industry, hotel business, and retail business. The department continues its vigilant approach to tackle tax evasion and maintain financial integrity.
