Northeast India to Get First Vande Bharat Express on Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Route

National desk, 21 May: Assam will be a landmark development for Northeast India as Northeast India is all set to have its first Vande Bharat Express train which will operate between New Jalpaiguri in Siliguri and Guwahati, Assam.

This encouraging information was released by Northeast Frontier’s Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Sanjay Chilwarwar who also emphasized the region’s goal to improve connectivity and cut down on travel time.

The Vande Bharat Express train will run six days a week covering a distance of roughly 410 km in just six hours. Its train numbers are Up-22227 and Down-22228. The trip time between New Jalpaiguri and Guwahati is anticipated to be greatly reduced by this new semi-high-speed train.

Rajdhani Express now holds the title of being the fastest train on this route with a travel time of about eight and a half hours. Vande Bharat Express will provide travellers with a quicker and more effective means of transportation.

Following the recent launch of the inaugural Vande Bharat Express in Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it off through video conference. When discussing the plan, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav disclosed that PM Modi has set an objective to introduce Vande Bharat Express trains in nearly all states by June of this year.

Vaishnav further emphasized the ease and comfort he experienced travelling on the Vande Bharat Express from Puri to Howrah. Union Minister spoke with other passengers including a young person and praised the train for its great comfort, emphasising that it was ideal for short-distance trips of under 100 kilometres.
