Notification for Majuli bye-election issued today
Guwahati: The Election Commission of India on Thursday has issued formal notification for bye-election to 99-Majuli (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency.
The polling date for the 99-Majuli (ST) bye-election which will take place on March 7, 2022.
Meanwhile, the BJP will announce its candidate name for the prestigious Majuli seat either on February 13 or 14.
This was announced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today.
The assembly seat for the 99-Majuli (ST) remained vacant after former Chief Minister and MLA Sarbananda Sonowal was elected to the Rajya Sabha on September 27
The vote will be counted on March 10th, and nominations will be accepted through February 17th.
The nominations will be scrutinized on February 18 and last date for withdrawal is fixed on February 21.
During the elections, the bye-election process will be carried out in accordance with the COVID-19 protocols in the constituency.
