Notorious sharpshooter of Gogi gang caught by Delhi Police after gun fight

Guwahati: Delhi Police arrested a member of the notorious Gogi gang after a brief encounter in Khatta area of New Delhi on Monday night.

The accused have been identified as Bhagwan Singh.

According to reports, Singh was a skilled shot for the Gogi Gang and Boxer Gang. This gang was once employed by Lawrence Bishnoi.

Singh was reportedly urged to surrender but instead fired on the police crew. He was shot in the left leg by a Special Cell officer as retribution.

Bhagwan Singh alias Mukesh (age 32 years) who has been charged with murder, extortion, and shooting. Numerous cases have been registered against him.

“Arrested Bhagwan Singh alias Mukesh was wanted and absconding in a sensational abduction and subsequent killing of Satish on in the area of Shahbad Dairy vide FIR No 369/2022 dated 24/05/2022 under Sections 365/302/34/201 of IPC in Shahbad Dairy Police Station,” said Delhi Police.

“Based on specific information, the police planned the encounter. “At about 12.10 am today on August 2, a person riding on the bike (identified as Bhagwan Singh) was spotted coming from Swaroop Nagar side and going towards the landfill. He was signalled to stop by the members of the police team after disclosing the identity of the police but he tried to escape by reversing the bike but he was surrounded by the team and asked to surrender. But Bhagwan Singh whipped out his pistol and fired towards the team. Members of the team also fired in self-defence to overpower the accused, in which he was got injured in his left leg. He was immediately rushed to Jagjeevan Ram hospital,” informed the police.

Five shots were fired in total, three by the accused and two by team members, police said, who also stated they retrieved a.32 semi-automatic weapon from the accused and that he has been taken to a nearby hospital.

In the past, Singh was connected to more than seven criminal cases in Delhi, including two murder cases, two attempted murder cases, two cases of attacks on police, and other charges including assault, injury, intimidation, rioting, theft, the arms act, etc.

Bhagwan Singh was also found guilty of murder and the accused is currently appealing the ruling in the Delhi High Court.

According to the police, Singh interacted with members of the Gogi gang before becoming linked with them and joining them in their current endeavours.

Further investigation is in progress.
