NPP Chief Conrad K. Sangma Concludes Arunachal Pradesh Campaign Tour, Vows Support for Northeast
Northeast Desk, 7th April: National People’s Party (NPP) Chief and Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma, concluded his three-day campaign tour to Arunachal Pradesh, accompanied by his spouse Dr. Mehtab Agitok Sangma and National General Secretary James K. Sangma.
During his tour, Sangma visited various districts in Arunachal Pradesh, emphasizing NPP’s commitment to the rights of the people of the Northeast and indigenous communities. Despite being a partner of the NDA coalition, Sangma reiterated that NPP would prioritize the interests of the Northeastern states.
“We will stand up for our people, fighting for their rights whenever necessary, irrespective of our alliance with the NDA,” Sangma affirmed, emphasizing NPP’s dedication to serving the people’s interests above all else.
Speaking on the development and economic growth of Arunachal Pradesh, Sangma highlighted the importance of experienced and visionary individuals in his team, including retired administrative officers and government servants, committed to furthering the region’s development.
Seeking the electorate’s support for 22 NPP candidates contesting in the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly elections, Sangma underscored the importance of selecting candidates capable of representing the people’s voice effectively.
Drawing parallels with Meghalaya’s growth model, Sangma outlined the state’s initiatives for farmers, women, and youth, showcasing successful entrepreneurship programs recognized by the Government of India and international agencies.
Reflecting on the vision of his father, (L) Purno Agitok Sangma, Sangma stressed the need for political unity among Northeastern communities to amplify their voices in Delhi. He urged for conscious political decisions to empower homegrown parties like NPP, advocating for greater representation of Northeastern concerns on the national stage.
Sangma concluded by highlighting the changing scenario where Northeastern leaders are gaining recognition for their united stance on regional issues, emphasizing the importance of selecting leaders capable of articulating the region’s aspirations effectively.
