NSF Demands Immediate Termination of Nagaland University Professor Over Misconduct Allegations

Dimapur, Nagaland: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has escalated its demand for the immediate termination of Professor Sarat Chandra Yenisetti from the Department of Zoology, Nagaland University.

The student body has accused the professor of serious misconduct, including verbal abuse and physical assault on students and faculty members.

In a strongly worded statement released on November 26, 2024, the NSF detailed the incident that occurred on November 25, 2024. According to the federation, the professor verbally abused a group of postgraduate students and physically assaulted a female Assistant Professor during official hours.

The NSF has expressed deep concern over the professor’s alleged history of unprofessional behavior, claiming that such actions have created a hostile and intimidating environment within the university. The federation has emphasized that these actions not only violate ethical and professional standards but also jeopardize the safety and dignity of the university’s community.

The NSF has issued a three-day ultimatum to the university authorities, demanding immediate action against the accused professor. The federation has warned that failure to comply with their demands will compel them to take further measures, including protests and demonstrations.

The student body has also urged the university administration to implement robust policies and procedures to prevent such incidents in the future. The NSF has stressed the importance of creating a safe and inclusive campus environment where students and faculty can learn and work without fear of harassment or intimidation.

Nagaland University is yet to respond to the allegations. The NSF has assured the university community that it will continue to monitor the situation and advocate for the rights and welfare of students and faculty.
