NSF Urges Nagaland Government for Immediate Evacuation of Students Stranded in Northern India Amidst Indo-Pak Conflict
Kohima: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has issued a fervent appeal to the Government of Nagaland, imploring them to take immediate action in evacuating students from the state who are currently pursuing their education in various parts of Northern India. This urgent request arises against the backdrop of the escalating military conflict between India and Pakistan, which has begun to directly impact civilian life in the northern regions.
In a formal communication dispatched on May 10th to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, the NSF highlighted the growing distress faced by numerous students hailing from Nagaland who are studying in Northern India. The federation pointed specifically to the widespread closure of airports in the affected areas as a primary cause of the difficulties these students are encountering. This disruption in air travel has effectively left many stranded and anxious about their safety and well-being.
The gravity of the situation was underscored in the letter jointly issued by NSF president Medovi Rhi and education secretary Temjentoshi. They stated unequivocally that “the lives of Naga students and working professionals have been thrown into disarray” as a direct consequence of the prevailing circumstances. The communication painted a picture of increasing uncertainty and fear amongst the affected individuals, emphasizing their urgent need for assistance.
The Naga Students’ Federation has strongly advocated for the state government to promptly establish the necessary infrastructure and protocols to guarantee the safety and swift repatriation of these concerned citizens. The NSF’s plea resonated with a sense of urgency, as the organisation stressed the critical need for “a swift and affirmative action” to alleviate the hardship and anxiety experienced by the students and ensure their safe return to their home state.
