Guwahati: The official Twitter account of the Assam government’s Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) was hacked on Saturday evening.
The profile picture of bitcoin investor and owner of Microstrategy Michael Saylor was being shown on the hacked account (@diprassam).
There were also sporadic tweets using different crypto currencies on the DIPR twitter account.
However, the IT specialists later partially restored the account.
“We regret to inform that our Twitter account (@diprassam) has been compromised. Although we have partially restored it, we would like to keep our followers informed to restrain themselves from following tweets from this account until we are confirmed of its complete official restoration,” read a statement.
