One arrested with 1000 pieces of Yaba tablets in Karimganj

Guwahati: A suspected drug peddler has been arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) in the Karimganj district of Assam on Thursday.

The arrested person has been identified as Shahidur Rahman who is a resident of Alongjuri village of the district.

According to reports, BSF soldiers intercepted a suspected auto rickshaw who was on his way to Karimganj carrying registration number AS – 10 AC – 5322 on NH-37 near the Alongjuri area.

The BSF personnel while in search recovered 1000 Yaba tablets and the driver was arrested immediately.

However, the BSF personnel immediately informed Karimganj Police Station.

The police officials informed that the market worth of the seized drugs is said to be around Rs 5 lakh.

It may be mentioned that the accused along with the tablets, auto, and a mobile phone was handed over to Karimganj Sadar police station.
