One injured, nine shops gutted in a massive fire in Assam
Guwahati: One person suffered injuries and at least nine shops were gutted in a major fire at Hojai district of Assam on Friday.
The incident took place at Hojai New Market area.
The fire first broke out in a sweet shop in the market from where it spread to other nearby shops after a gas cylinder exploded.
The injured person has been identified as Raghubangshi who is said to have sustained severe burn injuries.
The injured youth was immediately rushed to Hojai Haji Abdul Majid Memmorial Hospital& Research Centre (HAMM) Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
Later on, fire tenders reached the spot and were able to bring the fire under control after a prolonged struggle.
Officials informed that upon initial inspection, the fire is thought to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
