Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs Assam Police arrested one suspected drug peddler in Guwahati.
Following a tip off, the Gorchuk Police official initiated an operation against drugs in a truck and recovered 59 boxes of contraband syrup. The truck is registered with number AS 01 NC 1845.
The arrested person is the driver of the truck and it was suspected that he was also involved in the drug peddling.
The arrestee was identified as Sahadul Islam and he is a resident of Goalpara.
The truck was on its way to Agartala from Borgaon, Guwahati.
It may be mentioned that the market price of the recovered syrup is around Rs 15 lakhs.
