Operation Sindoor: India Strikes Terror Camps Across Pakistan and POK Following Pahalgam Attack

National: In a decisive move following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian armed forces initiated Operation Sindoor on Tuesday, executing targeted strikes against multiple terror camps situated across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK).

The operation, launched on May 7th, marks a significant escalation in India’s response to cross-border terrorism.

The strikes were a direct consequence of the horrific April 22nd attack in Pahalgam that resulted in the loss of 26 innocent lives. The Indian Army, in a terse but firm message posted on X, declared, “Justice is served,” immediately after the operation was conducted.

Issuing an official statement, India emphasized its commitment to responsible action, stating that it had “exercised restraint in selection of targets as well as the method of execution.” The strikes successfully targeted a total of nine locations identified as being instrumental in planning and directing terror attacks against India. An official press release reiterated that the operation aimed at dismantling “terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.”

The Indian Army further clarified its operational parameters, asserting, “Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution. These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable.”

Predictably, Pakistan reacted sharply to the Indian strikes, vowing retaliation. According to AFP, citing the Pakistani military, the country has pledged to respond to the attacks at a “time and place of its own choosing.” Initial reports from Pakistan confirm at least three casualties resulting from the strikes.

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, addressed the media, stating, “Some time ago from now, the cowardly enemy India launched air strikes on Subhanullah mosque in Bahwalpur’s Ahmed East area, Kotli and Muzaffarabad at three places from the air.” Lt Gen Chaudhry also claimed that Pakistan Air Force jets were immediately scrambled in response and that the Indian strikes originated from within Indian airspace. He further added, “All of our air force jets are airborne.”
