Operation Sindoor Paused, Not Ended,” Assam CM Warns Amidst PM’s Anti-Terrorism Stance
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has ignited a wave of political discussion by asserting that “Operation Sindoor has only been PAUSED,” not terminated, and delivering a stern caution to those perceived as adversaries.
This declaration, made via his official X account, has been interpreted as a continuation of India’s robust security policy, particularly concerning cross-border threats.
The Chief Minister’s statement followed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent pronouncements regarding India’s unwavering position against terrorism and the alleged role of Pakistan in providing safe haven to terrorist organizations. Sarma’s words, “The message is clear to the enemy!” echoed the Prime Minister’s firm stance, suggesting a unified front in addressing national security concerns.
Sarma further praised Prime Minister Modi for his decisive leadership, stating that he has “laid out the terms of reference for Pakistan’s very EXISTENCE – embrace annihilation OR abandon terrorism.” The Chief Minister’s comments were seen as a strong endorsement of the Prime Minister’s hard-line approach and a reflection of the national sentiment against terrorism.
Political analysts and social media commentators have speculated that “Operation Sindoor” symbolizes India’s broader strategic and security preparedness, particularly in the context of counterterrorism efforts and the protection of national sovereignty. The timing of Sarma’s remarks, amidst ongoing national security debates, has amplified their significance.
Prior to this, on May 12, Sarma had publicly commended the Indian Armed Forces for their professionalism and transparency during briefings related to “Operation Sindoor” and India’s growing military strength. He lauded the Directorate General of Military Operations (DGMO) briefings for their “unmatched precision, professionalism, and confidence.”
Sarma emphasized the strategic strength of India’s defense posture, noting, “The briefings by our DGOMs are intense, unapologetically professional, and brutally honest. They faced tough questions without flinching — and made one thing absolutely clear: the Indian Armed Forces have struck Pakistan deep inside its own territory, with precision and resolve.”
