Opposition Parties Rally Across Assam Against Kejriwal’s Arrest

Guwahati, 22nd March: The Assam unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Raijor Dal (RD) organized demonstrations across Guwahati and the entire state on Friday to protest against the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Opposition parties united in condemnation of the ED’s actions against the AAP leader.

Kejriwal’s arrest on Thursday night, in connection with an excise policy-linked money laundering case, sparked outrage among opposition members. In Guwahati, AAP members attempted a procession from the party’s state headquarters to the state secretariat but were halted by security forces. Similar protests were staged by AAP members in Dibrugarh.

Meanwhile, Raijor Dal held a protest in the heart of Sivasagar town, specifically in front of the statue of Bhupen Hazarika, on March 22. The protest aimed to denounce the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, with Raijor Dal accusing the BJP government of orchestrating a conspiracy.

In Sivasagar, slogans in support of the protest reverberated through the streets, reflecting widespread discontent over Kejriwal’s arrest. The coordinated demonstrations underscored the unity among opposition parties in Assam against what they perceive as unjust actions by the authorities.

The arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has prompted widespread condemnation and demands for justice, with similar protests occurring across various parts of Assam, including Dibrugarh.
