Over 1.3 Lakh Mizoram Farmers Get ₹38 Crore Under PM-KISAN Scheme

Aizawl: More than 1.3 lakh farmers in Mizoram are reaping the benefits of the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana, with a total of over ₹38 crore directly transferred to their bank accounts. This disbursement marks the first payout for the 2025-26 financial year for the state’s agrarian community.

The fund, amounting to ₹38.06 crore, was transferred to the accounts of 1,31,238 eligible farmers. This local distribution is part of a larger, nationwide initiative where Prime Minister Narendra Modi released ₹20,500 crore to approximately 9.7 crore farmers across the country from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday.

A state-level programme was organised at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Aizawl in Selesih to commemorate the occasion. The event, which was live-streamed to various District Agriculture Offices and KVKs, saw Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Lalthansanga as the chief guest. While addressing the gathering, Minister Lalthansanga extended his gratitude to the central government for its consistent support to Mizoram’s farmers. He urged all beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously, ensuring they align with the core objectives of the PM-KISAN scheme. The minister also took the opportunity to announce that online applications for the second phase of the state government’s flagship ‘Handholding’ scheme for farmers are now open.

The event witnessed the presence of key officials, including Special Secretary Ramdinliani and Agriculture Director R. Lalnunzira, along with staff from the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, KVK officials, PM-KISAN beneficiaries, and representatives from various Farmer-Producer Organisations. The PM-KISAN scheme, which was launched in 2019, provides an annual income support of ₹6,000 to eligible farmers in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each. The Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department in Mizoram is the implementing agency for this crucial scheme.
