Over 13 Lakh Electorates To Exercise Franchise On Feb 27 in Nagaland
Guwahati: The Election Commission of India on Tuesday issued a notification for the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly elections.
All the 60 constituencies in the state will cast their ballots on February 27.
Nagaland chief electoral officer V Shashank Shekhar announced on Tuesday that the governor of the state ordered all of the state’s Assembly constituencies to elect members to the legislative assembly as a result of the notification.
The letter stated that nominations could be submitted starting on January 31.
The deadline for submitting nominations has been set by the commission for February 7.
The deadline for withdrawal of candidature is February 10 and the nominations will be scrutinised on February 8.
On February 27, voters may cast ballots from 7 am to 4 pm and the results will be announced on March 2.
13,17,632 voters in total are eligible to cast ballots in the next elections. The final electoral rolls had a total of 24,689 new voters.
The 27 Mokokchung Town Assembly seat has the fewest electors (8,302), while the 4 Ghaspani-1 Assembly constituencies has the most electors (74,395).
2,315 polling places will be used in the state for voting. Of those, 920 polling places have been designated as crucial and 680 as vulnerable.
57 polling places have been designated as model polling places while 196 polling places will be staffed by women. Ten voting places will be staffed by people with disabilities throughout the state.
The state’s current Legislative Assembly will remain in place until March 12 before being dissolved at the end of its term.
