Over 1400 Posts Lying Vacant in the Universities of Assam
Guwahati: 12 universities in Assam, including Tezpur and Assam University, have more than 1400 open positions. The unfilled positions in the universities amount 1484, 476 teaching positions and 1,008 non-teaching positions.
349 teaching positions and 1,008 non-teaching positions are open at the 10 state universities, according to the Directorate of Higher Education. In Gauhati University, there are 132 open teaching positions and 746 open non-teaching positions, while Dibrugarh University has 25 open teaching positions and 142 open non-teaching positions.
Bodoland University has 26 teaching positions open and two non-teaching positions, KK Handique State Open University has two teaching positions open and six non-teaching positions, Cotton University has 90 teaching positions open and four non-teaching positions, Kuman Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit University has 17 teaching positions open and three non-teaching positions, Majuli University has 12 teaching positions open and 29 non-teaching positions, Madhabdeb University has 45 teaching positions open and four non-teaching posts in Kabi Guru Rabindra |Nath Tagore University.
There are now 38 open teaching positions at Tezpur University and 89 open teaching positions at Assam University, the two central universities in the state. The Directorate of Higher Education reports that certain universities held interviews and that other universities hired temporary lecturers. The burden falls primarily on the students.
