Over 26 lakh people in State skip 2nd Covid vaccine dose

Guwahati: Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, lakhs of people in the State have delayed or skipped their second dose for Covid-19 vaccine.

Around 26 lakh eligible people who were due for second dose of COVID-19 vaccination, have skipped it despite completing the prescribed time interval between two doses.

According to reports, as of Monday at least 3.89 lakh people who took the first dose of covaxin and 22.81 lakh people who took the first dose of covishield have not taken their second dose on time, bringing the total number of people who had missed their second dose to 26.70 lakh.

However, Kamrup has the largest number of delayed second doses at 1.64 lakh, followed by Nagaon district (1.34 lakh) and Cachar district (1.31 lakh).

It should be noted that on November 1st of last year, the outstanding quantity of those who had not gotten the second dosage of the vaccination within the required time limit was 14,51,661.
