Over 40,000 People Affected Due To Flood In Assam’s Cachar District
Guwahati: Assam is battling with flood and the Cachar district bears the worst impact as it continues to grim with over 41,000 people being affected by the current wave of floods.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 41,037 people have been affected in 138 villages across the district, with 1,685 flood victims taking refuge in relief camps put up by the district administration.
According to the ASDMA data, flooding has flooded 2099.6 hectares of crops. Three persons, including a toddler, from the Cachar district have been missing since Sunday, according to the report.
In several regions of the district, the SDRF, Fire and Emergency Services, and the district administration are conducting rescue operations.
Meanwhile, floodwaters from the Kopili river inundated several villages and farms in the Kampur area of Nagaon district, worsening the situation.
According to the official statement, the current floods have impacted around 57,000 people across seven Assam districts.
The statement goes on to say that the floods have affected roughly 222 villages in 15 revenue circles, with 10321.44 hectares of agricultural land flooded in floodwater.
