Pak National Who Crossed Over To India To Kill Nupur Sharma, Arrested

Guwahati: Patrolling teams in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district arrested a Pakistani national who had infiltrated into India.

He allegedly crossed the border to kill Nupur Sharma, a spokeswoman for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who had been suspended.

The detained Pakistani national is being questioned by a team from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and other intelligence organisations.

A senior Border Security Force (BSF) official reported that the man was captured on July 16 at around 11 pm from close to Hindumalkot border outpost. He was taken into custody right away and frisked.

He said, “We have found an 11-inch knife, religious texts, clothing, food, and sand in his possession bag. He introduced himself as Rizwan Ashraf, a resident of the Pakistani city of Mandi Bahauddin in the northern Punjab province.

He continued by saying that the suspect had admitted, during the preliminary investigation, that he had crossed the border in order to kill Nupur Sharma because of her contentious comments about the Prophet Muhammad. He apparently intended to carry out his plan after visiting the Ajmer Dargah.

We have given him to the local police for additional inquiry, the official declared. He was brought in front of a magistrate, who then sentenced him to eight days in police custody. We have given his information to the relevant intelligence authorities.

He is currently being questioned by an IB, RAW, and military intelligence team.
