Pakistan: 23 soldiers killed in Taliban-linked attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province

National Desk, 12th December: A deadly attack by militants affiliated with a Pakistani Taliban group in Khyber-Paktunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan district resulted in the tragic death of at least 23 soldiers on December 12. The assailants utilized an explosive-laden truck to target a security forces’ post, following unsuccessful attempts to gain entry by other means, as stated by the army.

The Inter-Services Public Relations, the army’s media wing, confirmed that the attackers resorted to the vehicle-borne method after facing initial resistance. Subsequently, a suicide attack exacerbated the situation, leading to the collapse of a building and causing multiple casualties in the district bordering South Waziristan.

The assault, orchestrated by six terrorists in the Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan during the early hours of December 12, was met with a swift response from the security forces, neutralizing all attackers. Authorities have deployed additional police contingents to the site, initiating a search operation to address the aftermath of the incident.
