Pakistan Army Initiates Unprovoked Ceasefire Violation Along LoC in Jammu and Kashmir

The Pakistani Army initiated unprovoked small-arms fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in multiple sectors of Jammu and Kashmir during the night of April 30 to May 1. The firing targeted Indian positions in the Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor sectors.

The Indian Army responded proportionately and effectively to the unprovoked firing, ensuring that no casualties or damage were reported on the Indian side. “The Indian Army responded proportionately to the unprovoked small-arms fire from across the LoC,” the Indian Army stated, reaffirming India’s resolve to maintain peace along the border.

The incident comes amid continuing efforts to maintain the ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan, originally reaffirmed in February 2021. However, occasional violations continue to pose security concerns in the region, and officials are closely monitoring the situation.

Local authorities have been alerted to ensure the safety of civilians living near the border areas. The situation remains under close observation, and measures are in place to prevent any escalation.
