Pakistani Drone Fragment Claims Soldier’s Life Despite Successful Interception in Udhampur
National: A pall of sorrow has descended following the tragic death of an Indian Army soldier at an air base in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred on Saturday, May 10th, when the Army Air Defence successfully intercepted a Pakistani drone.
Despite the successful neutralization of the aerial threat, falling debris from the intercepted drone struck and critically injured the soldier, who was on duty at the Udhampur air base. Sadly, the braveheart later succumbed to his injuries.
This incident occurred on the same day that India and Pakistan had reportedly agreed to a ceasefire along the Line of Control and International Border, raising concerns about the fragility of the agreement.
The attack follows a period of heightened tension between the two nations after the Indian Armed Forces conducted strikes on terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) last week. These actions were a direct response to the earlier terror attack in Pahalgam.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed his profound grief and offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the fallen soldier, identified as Shri Surendra Singh Moga ji, a resident of Jhunjhunu. In a message posted on X, he lauded the soldier’s sacrifice in the line of duty, stating that the news of his martyrdom while safeguarding national security was deeply saddening.
