Pakistan’s PM Shehbaz Sharif Tests Positive for COVID-19

Guwahati: The prime minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif tested positive for COVID-19, the federal minister for information and broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Tuesday.

Ms. Marriyum claimed in a tweet that PM Shehbaz had been “ill” for two days. However, PM Shehbaz’s corona test was performed today (Tuesday) on the doctor’s recommendation and they confirmed that he had contracted COVID-19.

Marriyum urged party members and the general public to pray for the Prime Minister’s quick recovery.

The virus has already infected the prime minister three times. He previously tested positive for Covid-19 in January and June of this year.

PM Shehbaz returned to Pakistan on Monday after a brief visit in London, but he took the day “slow” because of health concerns, according to sources.

PM Shehbaz met with party president and elder brother Nawaz Sharif during the five-day trip to London to discuss important matters, such as the choice of the next army chief.

The reason the PM did not meet with allies after arriving in Pakistan was due to health issues, Ms Marriyum stated.
