Pandya To Lead India In T20Is Against NZ; Rohit, Rahul, Kohli Rested
Guwahati: The team for the forthcoming white-ball series tour of New Zealand following the World T20 in Australia was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday.
Hardik Pandya will captain the Indian team in the T20 Internationals with Rishabh Pant serving as his deputy while Shikhar Dhawan will captain Men in Blue in the ODIs against the Kiwis. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul have been rested for the New Zealand T20I and ODI series.
India will tour New Zealand for a white-ball series that consists of three T20Is and as many ODIs after the World T20 in Australia. The series will run from November 18 to November 30, and New Zealand will visit India again in January of the following year for a white-ball series.
Shikhar Dhawan will lead Team India in the ODI series against New Zealand, on the other hand.
Team India will play three T20Is and three ODIs in New Zealand. The first T20I will be played on November 18, followed by the second and third on November 20 and November 22, respectively. The three-match ODI series will start on November 25. The last time India toured New Zealand was in January-February 2020.
India has won two of their previous three games in the present T20 World Cup, and they are currently ranked second in Group 2 of the Super 12. The Men in Blue are level with Bangladesh and are one point behind South Africa. They will face Bangladesh next at Adelaide Oval. Their last game would be against Zimbabwe.
It should reach to the semifinals if India wins its final two games. Additionally, it appears that the two countries will compete in the semifinal because New Zealand is now in first place in Group 1.
