Panic in Moran as Hand Grenade Found at Businessman’s Residence
Guwahati, 28th September: A sense of panic enveloped the Botamora locality in Moran, Charaideo, after the discovery of a hand grenade at the residence of a businessman and contractor on Thursday morning.
According to sources, workers at the dwelling of Kanak Gogoi, who holds the dual roles of businessman and contractor, stumbled upon the hand grenade. The finding sent shockwaves of fear and apprehension through the surrounding community.
In response to the discovery, a police team led by Officer-in-Charge Atul Patra swiftly arrived at the scene. In the presence of a bomb squad, the hand grenade was successfully recovered.
It has come to light that approximately five months ago, the militant organization ULFA-I had purportedly demanded a sum of Rs 50 lakh from Kanak Gogoi and even issued threats to him over the phone. Subsequently, the victim had lodged a formal complaint with Moran Police Station. The recent appearance of a hand grenade at his residence has understandably left Gogoi and his family in a state of distress.
In contrast, some neighbors and local residents have raised suspicions that Kanak Gogoi may be involved in the placement of the hand grenade to gain the advantage of a personal security officer (PSO). This allegation has fueled speculation and uncertainty in the neighborhood.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the hand grenade’s presence, with a focus on discerning any potential ulterior motives or connections to the incident.
